The questions we hear most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, join the beta and ask us. You get a direct line to both founders.
Roan is a performance coach in an app. Every morning it builds your daily plan across five areas: training, nutrition, habits, recovery and skill development. Then it adjusts that plan when your life changes, so you keep progressing.
Men with a demanding job and a full life who still want to perform at a high level. If your health matters to you but it is your third or fourth priority behind work and family, Roan was built for you.
Not currently. Roan builds a well-rounded man: strong, fit, moving well, lean and athletic, ready for whatever the week asks. If you are chasing a marathon time or a powerlifting total right now, a specialist coach will serve you better.
No. General AI gives general advice, and it has no method, so the parts compete. Roan runs on the coaching method of Jonathan Pope, built over more than 20 years. The method decides what you train, in what order, and when you progress. AI is how Roan applies that method to your life each day.
Zach Mobius and Jonathan Pope. Zach designed and built the app, and he is its first user. Jonathan built the backend, and his methodology powers everything Roan does.
You start with a physical assessment. We test, we do not guess from a questionnaire. The results become your profile across strength, conditioning, movement, body composition and athleticism. Your lowest area is your limiter, and that is where the work goes first. You retest every 3 to 6 months.
Each morning you do a 30-second check-in. Roan looks at your sleep, your recovery trend, your recent training and your day, then tells you what changes and why. Green day: push. Yellow day: same session, fewer sets. Red day: recover. You lose no progress.
That is the point of Roan. A sick kid, a work trip or a launch week does not end the plan. Roan shortens sessions, moves the load to a better day, and protects your sleep. You do not start over.
The check-in takes about 30 seconds. You choose how often you train, from three to six days a week, and Roan builds the plan around that. The goal is less time spent researching and deciding, not more.
Good nutrition is food that gives you energy, digests well and keeps you full, and it is personal. Roan helps you find the foods that work for your body, then builds meals from them. It uses simple habits, not a tracking project. Meals are scored on protein, fiber and whole foods.
Performance is mental as well as physical. In the beta, skill development is focused on mental skills. Roan gives you short daily practices, such as a breathing reset before a big meeting, so you stay calm and sharp under pressure. They take a few minutes and they build over time, the same way strength does.
No, but Roan uses one if you have it. It reads your sleep and HRV through Apple Health. We do not sync directly with Whoop yet. No wearable? Tell Roan how you slept and how you feel. The check-in is signal too.
A normal gym to start. When you travel, Roan adjusts the session to what the hotel has.
Yes. Roan cannot train, eat or sleep for you. It removes the research, the programming and the second-guessing, so your effort goes into the work itself.
You get access to the app. Roan walks you through a physical assessment and a full onboarding, then builds your first plan. From there your journey starts, with a weekly performance call and a direct line to both founders.
Roan on your iPhone, a weekly performance call, and a direct line to both founders. It costs $50 a month. You also get a say in what we build next.
No honest coach can. What we can tell you is why most plans fail: they break the first week life gets hard. Roan is built so that week does not set you back. Show up, do the work Roan gives you, and the results follow.
Yes, for now.
No. Roan is a performance product, not a doctor, therapist or medical provider. Take medical concerns to a qualified professional.
